A Wet Solstice rescued…
There were twenty plus who turned out to enjoy an evening of food, poetry and song on Thursday.
Despite the change in venue it was a lovely get together. The hall was quickly transformed with flowers, pots of herbs, pretty cloths and tea lights. We ate and drank and then our visiting poet recited poems for us. I confess to not being an easy companion to poetry but she was wonderful! Her poem ‘The Weed’ is hopefully coming to the website soon.
Bella then sang and we agreed her performance becomes more polished each time. We are privileged to witness her growing confidence as a performer. Her song to her mum had me in tears but then I’m a sentimental type!
We agreed to change the format next time. I’ll stop insisting on it being ‘on the date’ and we’ll pick the nearest Saturday, start in the afternoon with getting fire pits sorted and shelters organised then drift into the evening.
If the weather’s really awful we can cancel and just have a spontaneous event when it improves. We’d like to do that this year, too, so watch the forecasts for a settled spell and we’ll have a camp out.
Thank you events team for not just cancelling it – I had a lovely time – thank you all who came and thank you to Sophie and Bella for our entertainment.

A wonderful evening. Cosy and fun. I loved Sophie and of course Bella (being the proud mum).
Bella is available all summer for gigs and performances.
