Solstice, song …and showers!

Solstice, song …and showers!

Despite the odd rain shower we had a fantastic turn out for the FlintShare midsummer celebration at Cilcain. Members pulled together to rig up some temporary shelter, loos and an open fire to keep us warm on what was a distinctly cool midsummer evening. But plenty of food, drink and great conversation fuelled a lovely relaxed atmosphere that felt like our own mini-festival.

The event also went with a swing thanks to the fantastic music performed by some very talented members and friends. Huge thanks goes to Steve and Marcus – guitar maestros – and to Bella for her sweet voice and beautiful musicianship. We also had a very welcome performance from Dave Martin and his band of singers and players – an excellent local group who performed an eclectic mix of Welsh folk music and classic songs.

We are really looking forward to the next event!

    Hi,

It was a wonderful first event and thank you to everybody who helped make it a success.

It would be lovely if more photos of the event could be uploaded onto the website. For example,I know Sandi took some great ones of Bella.

Thanks for putting this up – I can taste the wine and smell the candles!
What’s going on with the buckets?
And who gave Peter a drum??!!

Keep them coming – this is our record.

Thank you to Flintshare and to the Cilcain site owner for helping make it happen, also to Mr & Mrs Afon Spencer for kindly allowing the use of some straw bales.

It was great to see smiling faces and hear the throng on the wind, it was a shame we lost the marquee, but great to see the make do brigade in action.

I vote to see a covered area erected (plenty of pine available).

The buckets….we were thinking of having a ‘throw the wet sponge’ stall, but alas Nikki you were away.

As for Peters’ drum, i think he said Mr Caine gave it to him.

    (sorry Peter couldn’t resist)
